Have any of you seen this movie? My husband and I went to see it in the theaters when it came out. I have to say, if you haven't I highly recommend it.
Our marriage has had several issues and I think this has helped me see what we think of marriage is just not the way it is. We are raised as girls to believe in fairy tales. The prince who is just so romantic. Hollywood glorifies romance and we just totally fall for it. You know that weak in the knees kind of love. However, that's just not reality and many times once we realize it we want out. Thinking somehow that the next one will be better. It's just not the way it works.
Love and marriage are a choice. That's something I understand now but it's hard to put it in action. It's not a feeling. Love should be unconditional. This movie really hits that home. I'm still having trouble because my wiring tells me that I should feel this or that. Then when I don't, I am incredibly unhappy. My unhappiness is also my choice.
Scripture talks about doing everything as we were doing it for God himself.
1 Corinthians 10:31 (King James Version)
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Colossians 3:17 (King James Version)
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Colossians 3:23 (King James Version)
And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men
Wow, imagine what life would be like if we did everything like we were doing it for the Lord? How marriages would be changed if we would put this into practice.
Our church is going to soon start the Fireproof your marriage bible study. I am really excted about it and can't wait to start. I am probably going to be facilitating one of the groups. We will be using the small group bible studies so that each person can have a chance for a time that works for them. I know that this will also keep me more accountable because in order to head up a group, I'll have to know what the study says for the week! :)
I think it will be started up in late March and I will chronicle my experience here in my blog. So look for updates regarding this study.
God bless,
Amanda

Thanks for the comment! My husband really likes the movie. We both need to be better at putting things into action. It has seemed to make a tremendous impact and I am so glad that they are making movies like that!
Thanks again!
